The Agua Dulce (sweet water) Foundation is a dream becoming reality, little by little, day by day, as life itself. It is the vision to create a better future for Latin American children.
Looking to stop starvation of both body and soul is the reason why Marta created the Agua Dulce foundation. She was simply tired of just complaining about it, so she decided to join the efforts of some nonprofit organizations in Colombia and other countries of South America. Each year, with the help of the people that buy her albums, Marta helps a diferent organization in diverse countries.
In 2008, the Agua Dulce Foundation is proud to donate its annual funds to Safe Passage working with the poorest at-risk children of families working in the Guatemala City garbage dump. Within a safe and caring environment, Safe Passage provides a comprehensive and integrated program that fosters hope, good health, educational achievement, self-sufficiency, self esteem and confidence. Their primary focus is on creating opportunities and dignity through the power of education. Please VisitSafe Passage
In 2007, as the foundation grew, Agua Dulce was able to help a bigger project. A nonprofit organization called Creemos en ti (We believe in you) that provides psychological support to abused children and their families. Every year, 10 thousand boys and girls in Colombia are victims of sexual abuse and almost one thousand die. These numbers revel that infant abuse is one of the biggest problems in the country and it has to be solve by all social sectors. Agua Dulce is proud to be part of the help needed to solve it and dreams on a future without emotional and physical abused children. VisitCreemos en ti
In 2005 and 2006, Agua Dulce sponsored four children through NUTRIR: Juan Diego, Claudia Patricia, Yeltsin and Angie giving them the opportunity to attend a center where they received breakfast and lunch and where they also attended arts and sports workshops that help them grow healthy and happy. During those years, Agua Dulce also sponsored Julia Eliza Martinez through Children International.
Joining efforts with Marta, Colombian jeweler designer María Niño has created the Velvet Necklace, inspired by the beauty of nature and its kindness, to embrace and support Agua Dulce Foundation. Marta sells this beautiful necklaces at her shows and donates all the money to "Agua Dulce" to help more organizations.
