At the Chicago Reader

Here is a note about Marta's show in chicago as part of the prestigious Chicago World Music Festival

Chicago Reader

"Marta Gomez Quartet Singer Marta Gomez, a native of Colombia who's been living in the U.S. for the past decade, has developed an original repertoire that combines flavors from Argentina, Bolivia, Cuba, Peru, and elsewhere with elements of Colombian forms like cumbia and bambuco. On her fifth and most recent album, Musiquita (Aluna), the clarity with which she shapes her pretty, often weightless melodies reminds me of Afro-Peruvian great Susana Baca, and her strong, flexible voice retains its natural beauty even when she sings forcefully. Her nimble band plays airy arrangements full of gentle, frothy polyrhythms, communicating a strong jazz sensibility without ever sounding merely "jazzy."" —

Review of the show in LA!

thanks to Jesse Ramirez for a nice review he wote on his blog about Marta's recent show at the Grammy Museum in LA

"I attended the first ever Latin Recording Academy Showcase yesterday at The Grammy Museum in Downtown Los Angeles. I was invited by my good friend Gustavo Fernández (Delanuca Records/ DLN Distribution) to this intimate showcase presenting celebrated Colombian singer-songwriter Marta Gomez.

To be honest I had never heard of Marta Gomez before or had listened to her music, so I didn't know what to expect. Once inside the Grammy Museum, I took my seat with anticipation to hear those strange instruments that were on-stage. The lights dim and out comes three simple looking people and take their positions on-stage.

Marta began singing and I was astonished, such voice! A heavenly voice and charismatic being.
She sings every note with a smile and explosive emotions.

Everyone who hasn't hear or see Marta Gomez perform, you can not miss this wonderful music!
Check out her new album "Musiquita" (2009) released by Aluna Records."

It was a true honor to be the first act presented at The GRAMMY Museum by the Latin Recording Academy. It was an intimate onstage interview and performance we had on September 16. 2009

Interviewed by great music writer Agustin Gurza, I could talk a little bit about my music, varied influences, international recording career, and newest album, Musiquita (Aluna Records).as well as the story behind my songs and my social work with children and women in Latin America and of course I could sing some of my songs accompanied by Franco Pinna on percussion and Roberto Cachimuel on andinean instruments

Immense thank you to the Latin Recording academy, the Grammy museum, Gustavo Fernandez, Betto Arcos and everyone who went to hear us! my music makes no sense without you
