The Town

This is the story of an old man,
everyone says he died because he was too old
but I know that's not true,
since he was actually not that old.

What happens is that in the town, people work too much
if you don't believe me, ask Don Chucho,
who doesn't stop sewing.

Don chucho works by hand,
sewing button by button,
patching up pants with his tired eyes.
Don chucho died 'cause he was lonely,
it was not just of old age
He was waiting for a woman who once promised to come back...

This is the story of a man,
everyone says he's always smiling
but I know that's not true
since he is not really that happy

What happens is that in the town, people work too hard
if you don't believe me, you can ask Pepe
who doesn't stop fishing

Don Pepe works all day long
fishing from dusk till dawn
He says he fishes for illusions on his boat
His hands are tired and callous
they look the same as his father's
and surely, the same as his son's

This is the story of Luisa
everyone says she's the most beautiful woman in town
and Luisa has plenty of reasons to be beautiful

What happens is that in the town, people also have fun
if you don't believe me, you can ask "Lucha"
who doesn't stop dancing

Doña Luisa picks up coffee beans by morning
and then she goes singing to sell it to the warehouse,
with the little money she makes,
she buys herself a new dress
just for fancy, since she knows
that every man in town is crazy for her.
